Every June about 9,000 runners show up in this part of the world to race along Lake Superior in Grandma's Marathon. Last year, and also in 2005, the male winner was a Kenyan named Wesley Ngetich. As many will know there has been a lot of fighting in Kenya since Kenya's election in December. Wesley Ngetich, who wanted to run along the shore of Lake Superior again in June, was shot in the chest with an arrow and killed during fighting in his hometown. RIP Wesley. You are remembered in this town 8,000 miles away. Small world.

my reserve unit was the USARMY 477th medical company ( ambulance) and we provided medical support for grandma's marathon.... an amazing event that amassed a community, from world-class athletes to determined wanna-be marathoners and all the volunteers that made it the celebration it always was/is....

what a senseless loss.... what a crying shame

That is very sad. It puts a face on a huge tragedy.

    RIP Wesley.

I think more worthless people should get shot; not talented people like this. Why does Charles Manson get to die of old age in prison and this guy get killed with an arrow? Somebody up there isn't dealing a fair hand, in my opinion.
