Weak and Doubting Christians

  When I read the letters of Apostle Paul I see that many Christians had doubt about faith in Jesus Christ and the power of the ransom sacrifice.

  Example: Jewish Christians who felt keeping the law was still necessary for salvation.

  And I also see that there were Christians that were not anointed or led by the Holy Spirit and walking in the flesh.
  As Paul said in Romans 8:12-17:
  12 So, then, brothers, we are under obligation, not to the flesh to live in accord with the flesh; 13 for if YOU live in accord with the flesh YOU are sure to die; but if YOU put the practices of the body to death by the spirit, YOU will live. 14 For all who are led by God’s spirit, these are God’s sons. 15 For YOU did not receive a spirit of slavery causing fear again, but YOU received a spirit of adoption as sons, by which spirit we cry out: “Abba, Father!” 16 The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together.

  I don’t think I can say I have this Holy Spirit or the strong faith either, any response will be welcome.(well almost any)

  It may behoove you to give this issue a rethink in the light of ancient events ;) .. Thier were very good reasons why Jesus followers didn't trust apostate Paul and his new fangled talk of Jesus flying about divine, blinding pharasies going about thier business and inspiring him to turn the sandlefooted Nazarine into someone worthy of messiahship, someone who could match the Gods of Greece and Rome, miracle for miracle, supernatural wonder for superstitious wonder.

  This subject appears way too deep for most christians but I urge you to put your soapbox away and check out some ancient history .. the reality may be uninspiringly mundane but at least you won't be led to following blind men down dark religions.

  Hi DWiltshire,

  Re where did UB get the info on Paul embellishing his writings about Jesus, Earl Dougherty has a very good site with tons of information. Also, a search on Mithraism will yield interesting similarities of that religion with Paul's writings. Mithraists were first though.
