Who should and who shouldn't?

I should get alot of different oppinions here but that is what I want. I was looking up who should partake of the bread and wine, and who should conduct bible studies.
In the bible, Jesus does the last supper with his apostles. Some people call them saints now or annointed ones. He said do this in rememberance of me. How did it get to nowadays where JWs say its only the remnant that do this? Is it because he is just having a private discussion with his apostles? IF so, then when he says to the apostles, go making disciples, shouldn't it be just the appointed remnant or the ones overseeing congregations to do this also? He has been quoted as telling his people to teach their families but he never says to a nonapostle to go make disiples, or it would say disciples go make disciples. Don't the elders/ministerial servants get to put time in for every quick build, talks at the hall, paperwork for the hall, and time spent in meetings? I hardly ever see them out in actual service and I've wondered why they get so much time. This I don't think is right either, since they aren't out making deciples. And, I haven't seen them bring in many new members either. In the congregation that I quit, the only elder that did bring in new ones they ran him out.

Please, if you are going to quote a scripture, make sure that the whole chapter backs up that one scripture. There are too many people just quoting a scripture with another one from another place and then when I look it up, there is nothing in the chapter that backs up the meaning that the person is trying to point out.

    Bang inquires:

What does it mean to 'get time' or 'get to put time in'?

With the bread and wine - the disciples received Christ, and they still do today. As for who should partake - His disciples, and those who would be. I've heard that approaching the Lord's table is in a way also coming to judgement - afterward, some proceed toward darkness.
Who then should conduct Bible studies - I suppose the same.

when they write out at the end of the month how much time in field service they spent in that month, going door to door as an example.

So you believe then that only the elders and annointed should recieve the emblems (bread and wine) and that they should also be the ones to conduct bible studies?

I have noticed in churches, that only the men, pastors, priests, ministers conduct the bible studies, and if it is anyone else they are supervised. This is understandable. But making all members conduct their own bibles studies with people they meet at doors, even when they don't believe they should be, never seemed right to me.

    Serena,

I'm not sure what "churches" you're referencing or how much actual experience you have with them, but your statement is too general.

Many women in many churches conduct bible studies. I have been affiliated with two different denominations since the JW's. Both of them allow the women to conduct Bible Studies. Unsupervised. For the church I am attending now, anyone can conduct a BS if they have the desire and the knowledge. This is NOT something that is taken lightly either. Taking the time to prepare for a BS (hours) and then actually doing it, is a huge undertaking. But then again it is not something that members are forced to do either. We aren't asked to count the time doing it. Most church leaders don't micromanage the members evangelism time. Thus the difference between many churches and JW's.

    Just my thoughts...

My experience is just like yours Andi. At our church there are bible studies (and even retreats) that are conducted by and for women. There are women in all sorts of positions of responsibility (it is a large church).

As to counting time no one keeps track of such things. I think the idea that people would turn in reports showing how much time they put in at evangelism would be laughed at.

Oh, and you don't even have to be a member to take communion. Any believer is free to partake with us.

what churches are these, this is interesting. I think as long as they are knowledgable that would work. and what do you mean any believer can partake. most of them that I have visited say members only.

    Bang asks:
What is the record of field service used for?

    Bang replies:
I don't believe that the elders and 'annointed' of the WT society are disciples of Christ, so no, but being emblems it probably doesn't matter.

I'll have to agree with that.
