Ceramic veneers are all white, thin ceramic shells, which fit precisely onto the faces of prepared anterior teeth. Like bonding, veneers are used to cover up discoloration, cracks and chipping, and to change the shape or size of your teeth. Veneers outperform bonding with greater resilience and a greater resistance to stains and dulling. Most veneer procedures require two appointments to complete, the first of which is dedicated to preparing and taking an impression of the teeth. Veneers are minimally invasive restorations. Therefore, we need to remove only a small portion of the face and top edge of a tooth to achieve a proper preparation design. After the tooth or teeth are prepared, an impression is taken, which, along with accompanying photos and models, is sent to the lab. The lab fabricates porcelain shells, which, not unlike false fingernails on your fingertips, fit onto your teeth. These are your veneers. During your second appointment, we will cement your veneers onto your teeth. Be sure to leave plenty of time for this appointment, since placing veneers is a meticulous and delicate procedure. Each veneer must be trial fitted and assessed for aesthetic and functional success before final cementation. If required, fine adjustments are made prior to or immediately after final cementation. Ceramic laminate veneer procedures are exacting, but their results can be extremely worthwhile. Stronger and longer lasting than composite resin restorations, they are the current state-of-the-art procedure to restore and beautify your smile

Hey gainer, I am in the dental field too. I post here as an ex JW, which is mainly what its for. So, should I take it, you too are an exJW??? If so, Welcome, but take down your ad.

If you registered, and went to all of this trouble to post this, just for advertising, then, it did no good, because you will be history, in just minutes.

    So, which is it???

Dunno why gainer posted but I have questions about veneers...

What happens when a person's gums recede due to age or a health condition? Won't there be a visible gap between the veneer and the gumline?

How long are veneers expected to last? Can they be taken off and replaced if necessary?

Does it make sense to have braces first, then veneers?

What about the advancements in laser technology? Do whitening treatments really work? Do you think I need them?

Nothing performs like your own teeth. Every crown I've ever had has failed at some point. Veneers require the grinding down of your own teeth. Once you do that, you will depend on a dentist for the rest of your life to keep reapplying the veneers. I'd rather have teeth that aren't as pretty but are my own.

I used to use verniers at work, but now I use dial calipers, they're easier to read.

Hell, my entire life is merely a veneer.

Yes, veneers will require continued upkeep/repair and at some point they often fail and you will have to have new ones made. People who grind their teeth during their sleep will be sorry they went with veneers.- later the dentist will tell you , it's your fault they won't stay on! I had extensive cosmetic dentistry to enhance some teeth and repair teeth that were damaged by a poorly fitted crown done by the VA- I have had two veneers come loose- you have to avoid eating like a cave-man. I will say this- a hollywood smile does more for your social life than a new sports car- spend your money on your smile. . An attractive smile is worth the expense and upkeep- who knows, it might even help a JW place more mags.
