Can anyone tell me how they may approach this situation? You've been out for a while and you move far away. Plenty of time passes by and you know by the odds at least some of those friends you had growing up as a witness should be DF'd or they've disassociated them selves. Maybe if I called the hall with a voice changer every week going down my list of friends, asking one at a time every week to see if their there. Nuts... maybe, unless you guy's may have a better solution. Tula if there is anything wrong with paragragh as I'm sure there is, I'm sorry.

Maybe try doing a 'People Search' on a White Page internet site?
Just yesterday I looked up some old friends from my old cong in NJ. I got addresses for 3 and phone numbers for 2 of those.
Could be a start.

Is it a very common name like Jones or Smith- goodluck on that needle in a haystack! -otherwise a guy or a woman who hasn't changed her name shouldn't be too hard as long as they have had the same address for a couple years. zabasearch.com does a good search and often has the persons year of birth- addresses and phone numbers, sometimes both. I paid one of those services to track down a lost school chum- $30 got me a list of about 30 possible Jim's and I did find him! And he was looking for me , too! They could be living with a relative- do that search, if possible and then the search of the person and see , if there is an address match. Do you know what HS they graduated from?- (if they did go to HS) The websites for school reunion groups might have someone in their class that knows their whereabouts.

You may find that if you track down one person they know something about someone else, and so on and so on. It may take a while, but you may just need on inactive JW who keeps in touch w/ people who can put you in the know.
