I think this is an interesting article. It doesn't get too involved with the moral aspects of this, but it talks about the effects of their campaign. By some measures, it has been extremely effective. I'm not condoning or suggesting some of their tactics. Instead, I'm suggesting that we study and learn from this. Scientology critics are well aware that the Internet is a powerful tool for fighting the power of cults. We know that too, but have used this information differently. (There may be both advantages and disadvantages to this.)

It's just something to think about. There are opportunities to make our information more available on the Internet, without doing anything questionable. There are things that can be done by individuals or as a group. I have a small private campaign to increase the Google rankings of my favorite sites (including this one) by blogging and linking to them. I also try to write articles that do well in searches for keywords that are poorly represented by critical sites of JWs. I think it all makes a difference. The Internet gives us a chance to vote for the information we think is most accurate and most beneficial.

Some are more comfortable concentrating on this site. That's great. This site is a proven winner and a great help to new ones. It often comes down to our personality when we decide what we want to do, if anything. I actually envy those who don't feel a need to do anything. I hope to get to that point in the future. In the meantime, I find some activities to be therapeutic.

I also wanted to add the opinion that I think Google bombing the WTS websites is a terrible idea. I would much rather see people avoid linking to them at all. (Or only provide a url or a no follow link that doesn't improve the sites ranking. I'm pretty sure that the links on this site are no follow to discourage spammers. Please let me know if I am mistaken) I've noticed that the position of the WTS sites in searches is somewhat volatile. This makes them vulnerable to our promotion of critical sites. If the WTS sites drop down in the search results, it can drastically reduce the amount of traffic they get.

Just a bump to the top. I sent a PM to Besty and would be happy to discuss this privately with anyone else.
