I'm running Vista Home Premium at home and one of the things about it that sorely disappointed me was the fact that it does not have Remote Desktop. You have to pay a lot more for Vista Ultimate or Vista Business to get the Remote Desktop feature.

Today I tried out a new hack that turns on the Remote Desktop functionality and it worked like a charm!

    Here ya go:

Now I need to find a hack that will turn on EFS (Encrypting File System).

Thanks for posting that. I was really ticked off when I found out they cut this core feature.
I'm running Vista Home Premium.
How do you like it thus far? I had Vista Ultimate on the pc I just built. It did not take me long to toss it and revert back to XP pro. I despise micro$oft with a passion but I need it to game, so what can you do eh?

This hack is just so cool!

I'm lounging in my recliner using my work laptop to remote into my home computer over my wireless connection.

I've always been able to use my work computer over my home wireless connection, however it is still my work computer and everything I do is tracked by my employer. I've always hated that... now I can just remote into my home computer and not have to worry about anything.

I guess it's not covered in the book but a friend emailed me this:

You can use the command Prompt to encrypt files and folders.

Use the cipher command to do so.

    Example:

    Type in command prompt:

"cipher /e c:\" (Without the quotes) This will encrypt Local disk C: with EFS. If you need any other help, type "cipher /?" in the cmd prompt (minus quotes) to display the uses of the cipher command.

NOTE: MAKE SURE TO BACK UP YOUR CERTIFICATES!!!!!!

I assume you can encrypt different files using their paths.

    Good luck, hope it works.
