Don't you agree? It's like being married to an abuser. He/she keeps asking you to do things that you know are not right, they say that they hurt you because you deserved it, they keep asking you for all your money to prove that you love them, they shut you off from your family--leaving you broke with no where to run, they play twisted mind games (If you don't do it, you must not love me.). . . it's like the saying keeping a woman barefoot and pregnant.

They are the persecuters not the government, or God, or society.

Thats a great point. No wonder so many of us have lasting relationship problems after getting away.

Never thought of it that way, but you hit the nail on the head! Great analogy, Mrs. McD.

Additionally, all the rules that are coming out and are already in place. You go to an a$$embly, and they tell you how much towel to use. They tell you where to sit. They tell you what to say and do. They use first-strike offensive fraud to make people double donate (the first round goes into the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund). Signs tell people how to move and to be quiet. And they tell you that you are not to have any fun.

You go to a regular boasting session. These things are 3 days a week. Two of them are evenings when people have to rush home after work. This disrupts people's schedule and forces them to set aside the time for service and meetings. Children are forced to stay up late regularly, usually on the day before a major unit test in school. The comments are all canned. The whole talk comes straight from the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger, with no room for innovation. They shove pioneer applications and donation pledge forms in people's faces.

While at the doors, people are told what to say and do. Having a bit of fun is wrong. You cannot play with sticks or in puddles. You cannot slip and slide on the ice (as in having any fun). Everything is automated. And there is the forced participation after the pedophile embarrassments, which cause children to be ostracized (and adults, too).

And, with the rules against college and full time work, people are in for a life of poverty and stagnation. They spend their lives washing windows or scrubbing toilets for dirt pay. They cannot save up any money, because of the gas they have to waste out in field circus. And, what little they do manage to get has to go into the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund. They are showcased for giving up their lives to pioneer, without being exposed for becoming destitute when they get old. They grow old and die, without having fulfilled anything.

Then they blame Satan for the persecution.

Ask any long time dub thy will agree if they are honest...The truism that I recall being bandied around was

"Never mind the pressures and tests from the outside, It is the tests from within the Organization that really are the hardest to bear"

By that they are meaning the relentless treadmill to do more and more "service" e.g. todays WT Study. The tactless and useless counsel from those appointed to be elders. The difficulties of attending Assemblies as you get older - no food or drink provided ...And coping with the disappointment of not seeing the New World yet, while they struggle on State Benefits having not provided for retirement..

Tests of faith indeed...I believe it is only stubborn dissonance that keeps them going
