Cultivating some level of friendship with clearly decent "worldly" people is a great way to get a JW to see the horrific nature of the official JW view of Armageddon. It's so powerful that my wife SAYS she doesn't believe Jehovah will kill roughly 6 billion at Armageddon. At the same time she somehow still believes the preaching work is "life saving". Go figure.
Not too long ago I had a very sick opportunity dropped into my lap and I feel horrible about even thinking along these lines, but I couldn't help it.
A very nice non-JW acquaintance recently let it slip that they are suffering from a VERY SERIOUS life-threatening illness. This person is known fairly well by my immediate and extended JW family and is on the younger side of 35. Now, of course, to a person, my JW family has great empathy for this semi-friend who is facing a tragic early death (possibly). Don't know the percentages yet.
Where am I headed with this? You probably know.
If my JW family truly believes the WT Armageddon dogma, then this is actually GREAT NEWS! Since the non-JW has shown ZERO interest in becoming a JW, dying young is the only hope they have of "really living".
Haven't broached this with any of my family. It's too painful just yet. But I've got it tucked away ready to pull out at the opportune moment with my wife.
Any suggestions on how best to word something like this? Would you? I feel like such a sick bastard for even thinking like this.

It's true, and I've thought it before, that techincally the Brothers should applaud when tragedy strikes. 9/11, the tsunami, Katrina, etc., these should all be applauded because all of those people's deaths paid for their sins. IT IS WACKY! Brain dead JWs wouldn't be able to see this logic though.
As for your situation, if you're going to, I really think you should word it just like you did to us.
But remember, their force fields will still come up no matter what you say.

I don't think your sick or callous with this. The plain fact is this is what witnesses believe. If you die before Armageddon your better off. They have a more certain hope.
I'm sure you will do fine.

This is pure logic speaking here. It makes sense that a jw would be happy for someone paying their debt and being ready for a new life. It is also one less door to bang on. Reminds me of teh other story.....you know....The one where Christians are afraid of dying. I would think they would be glad to die and go meet their Maker. But sadly, they are all scared to die, well, lots of tehm anyways.

I think the real power of this kind of situation is the real, flesh & blood non-JW "John" or "Jane". It puts the ugly reality of it front and center. In the abstract, the entire world is just a bunch of walking corpses awaiting execution by the their loving creator, unless they start taking Watchtowers and jump in the pool of salvation.

It's how I comforted myself many, many times. Even when my grandma died.
I never properly grieved for those people. I had a real tough time about a year ago - 14 years after grandma's death. Did quite a bit of grieving then.
They truly believe that it's a safeguard and a blessing when a non-witness dies.

I think that is why they are twisting them doctrine a bit to say that the Watchtower society will be they only organization left versus the the old every non-JW will die.

When my "worldly" relatives die, my JW relatives say "at least s/he will be in paradise." It's been their solace.
