Well... actually that's not quite true... they're India Spices...

What I am looking for is another container of 'Clive of India' Curry powder. The one that I got - several years ago - was from an Australian lass that I was corresponding with at that time. I got to liking the Curry powder... as it has an unusually good flavor.

Well... I am getting low... my 50g container is empty... and the Curry Powder that I get here in the states is just not the same.

Soooooooooo... what I would like to do is this... I would be willing to barter - or buy - a couple of containers from someone in Australia - if they are willing to do the legwork - and get a couple of containers of the spice... and mail it to me.

In return - I can send you something that is American - that you cannot get there in Australia - of equal value (or more). (Something like Kool-Aid powdered drink, perhaps?)

I know it sounds like an odd request... but I would really like to get another tin of Curry powder, and the only place that I find it is in Australia.

If anyone in Australia is willing to do this - please contact me in private e-mail, and we can hammer out details on how to do this.

    Thanks!!!!!

Is it different than the curry used by South Asians? Tons of it are used in our city. We have the largest population of East Indians here outside of India itself. You might be able to find it here. Try typing a search for Punjabi Market on Main Street Vancouver. If it's Indian , we got it all!!

Okay... I think that I have this taken care of. Thanks to yall who sent me a PM.

My mouth is watering already - thinking of how the curry powder makes food taste.

For those that think I've gone bonkers... the brand 'Clive of India' is - for some reason different than other brands. They have a different mix of spices that make up their curry powder. We can get curry powder here... it just isn't the same as this particular brand.

    I like it.

    Thanks again.

    You are a silly Billy!

    Why buy "curry powder"?

When I was a student I had a landlady from the Punjab, who regularly made authentic Indian food.

She told me that in India, you go to a curry merchant, who made up the blends of spices for you.

It is very important to COOK the curry ingredients in the ghee before you add anything else to the pan.

She said that the curry powders in the west are crap, so she had jars of the various spices, which she ground up herself. Her curries were HEAVEN.

SO buy your own ingredients, learn to blend them until you find your own authentic flavor. It is actually much cheaper too.

Don't forget the asafoetida and fenugreek.

Google "Madhur Jaffrey" for authentic spice blends in different curry styles. her "Ultimate Curry Bible " will take you to Bliss.
