Best of your getting out of field service story

I thought it would be fun if we all shared some of our best ways of circumventing our field service time. I have some funny ones and then interesting one where I realized what a lot of the higher ups were doing in the "field" service.

My best one was with my brother and I, when they made us "work together" and went to different streets. We would go to one door, walk real slow and not do another door on that street, not one. Another one was with a woman who had a bad leg and they had pressured her so much to come out, she dropped people off, take her "terrority card" and she and I went to breakfast and swung back by her house watching some tv.

What I learned when hanging out with the PO one time and I can't recall how this happened is that he would go out with the group, chat with a few, have breakfast and take as long as they wanted, and then come back and that was it. I cracked up. I found out that in many cases that's exactly what they do most of the time and sit in on a few of those "bible studies".

Layla33, I agree with that one. Want to fluff in the mininstry? Hang with an elder, or better yet, a circuit overseer.

They have so many built-in excuses for cutting it short, it's ridiculous.

I work with hubby all the time and just do some errands, get coffee and come back home. We only work with eachother and we always have "bible studies" to go on so we don't have to work with anyone else... lol

Before the 'quick build miracles' we built our Hall over a period of several years. Every Saturday working on it, while the sisters made lunch to bring on the job. No Saturday service more a long time.

I think we might have been responsible for the Society to institute 'Quick Builds'. Ha.

**Driving across town on a call, wasting time in traffic, and then having to waste more time hunting for the damn house--only to find that the person is not home.

**Going to a bookstore to place crapts with customers. Instead, I would browse the books.

**Hospitals, where I would say nothing and place nothing.

I was in my twenties and working with a young couple my husband and I hung out with most of the time.

As the bro pulled the car over at the end of the first assigned street, we could see garage sales going on up and down the street. We sat in the car talking for about ten minutes, until one of us said, "Hey, wanna go check out the sales?" That was it for service.....
