While I sit here watching the original movie, I can't help comparing most believers I know and their mindset with those stinkin' apes. Comments?

"Most believers" whom you know? Most believers in what? And specfically how are these believers like the apes featured in the film? As I recall, the apes were in fact representative of human society - the whole spectrum of human society. From the enlightened and compassionate to the cruel, ignorant and sadistic. As I recall, the apes were stereotype - the Soldier/Warrior always ready to fight and kill: the Teacher/Sage/ Scientist who was willing to research and challenge idees recues and prejudices; the Ignoramus who for various reasons did not want to challenge idees recues; and so on. In short, the ape society was a mirror of human society. So, could you kindly elaborate as to your meaning?

The apes not willing to listen to anything other than what their "scriptures" said. I suppose there are lots of things that can be drawn from this movie. When it first came out, I never paid much attention to it, but now I think it's a classic. I also couldn't help but picture 3 elders sitting there is judgement when the orangutans were holding their trial.
