Sounds like a reasonable request... Sex offender's neighbors ask tax break ASSOCIATED PRESS [email protected] Article Last Updated: 02/21/2008 09:37:15 AM EST

SOUTHBURY — Neighbors of a convicted sex offender living here are seeking tax breaks on their homes.

Some two dozen homeowners in the Fox Run Drive area contend that their property values dropped last fall when David Pollitt moved to his sister's home in their neighborhood.

They tried to force Pollitt to move out, but were unsuccessful in that campaign.

So, neighbors now have asked the town to reduce their property tax assessments by as much as 17 percent.

They argue the proximity of a registered sex offender has lowered the value of their properties.

The 54-year-old Pollitt was released in October after more than 24 years in prison for a series of rapes and moved to Southbury.

A police officer (and former co-worker with children the same age) was just busted attempting to send nudie pics of himself to an online decoy. He and his family live 5 houses down from my Aunts lakehouse. While he is still in the judicial process, everyone is putting their houses up before he is found guilty and required to register, thus lowering the property values. Jail time is not expected, probation only.
