It sure is easy for you to talk...

The Watchtower society is quite ungrateful. They teach how Jesus was sent to earth so he would be able to relate to people, yet, their circuit overseers, bethelites, and governing body live a life insulated from the real world.

It baffles me how hard some circuit overseers can push pioneering. It sure is easy when you draw a stipend, get a free car, free health/car insurance, and free shelter for doing nothing but going out in service a lot and giving a few speeches every week. Don't they realize that if everyone pioneered, there would be no one to support the pioneers?

Think about all the pioneers you know, especially the old super-elders. Sure, there are a few who support themselves with part-time jobs and live with roommates, but can you really say that's a sustainable way of living? Who wants to end up like those still-single 30 and 40-year-old virgins who are now desperate for a mate because they believed the lie that simply being spiritual will attract one? Meanwhile, there are other elder and pioneer families with homes, living relatively "high on the hog." It seems to me that the entire pioneership is held up (at least in western countries) by hard-working stiffs that sacrifice their time and money so others can make a "career" out of service.

Think for a minute if everyone in all the congregations started giving up their full-time work, selling their homes, and pioneering. Where would the money come from? There would be no one to buy the land and build the house so their sons could inherit it and pioneer in their old age with almost no expenses. There would be no rich business owners to drop those $250+ checks in the contribution boxes. There would be no hard-working stiffs able to financially support their child's "career" choice of pioneering. What would happen if every witness joined the pioneer ranks? Half of them would quit after the first month.

Denouncing those who choose to work for a living can only spark financial disaster for every JW as well as the society itself.

    Bravo!

You put into words what I have been trying to say for years.

Not to mention the elders that give talks on the "evils of higher education" when their own children are going to college.

In my area the pioneers just go on welfare to support themselves. There have ben talks saying this is a bad thing. But it continues, and everyone knows it's happening. The elders aren't going to enforce rules that would take people off of the pioneer list.

Aquagirl, each of the congregations pays a portion of their CO's car/medical insurance. The CO does not pay nor does the WTS.

I know an elder who has pioneered for over 20 years. He takes great pride in the fact that he lives below the poverty level here in the US and that he pays no taxes. He manages to support himself through a multi-level marketing scheme. His wife, though able bodied has never worked and they have no children. She is not even a pioneer.

The part that really bites is that they manage to take trips all over the world and write them off as business expences. They lack for nothing and receive all the services that hard working tax payers provide.

They are not only a drain on their congregations, they are a drain on society itself. I do not begrudge those in need of government support, but I have no respect for the underachievers who somehow think they deserve a free ride.

"He manages to support himself through a multi-level marketing scheme." Normally I wouldn't believe it possible for anyone to actually support themselves on MLM schemes. Of course, he lives below the poverty line and on the charity of the "kings of the earth" who commit fornication with "Babylon the Great," so I guess he's hardly an endorsement of Amway (It IS Amway I'm guessing). Also, I'm willing to guess he uses his position in the congregation as leverage to get others in the congregation involved.

It is the same with any religious leader that does not create value. They have to steal it from those under them, and that is what the hounder-hounders and up do. They have to usurp a living from the congregation (and they bash the other religious leaders for doing the same).

What happens when everyone does pioneer? There are going to be no full-time workers to put money into the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund, just as they get hit with all those suits. No one will be able to support the hounder-hounders. And, if they are going on Welfare, shame on them! Welfare is for people that, for reasons beyond their circumstances, cannot make ends meet--and it should be temporary at best. People going on Welfare just so they can pioneer are parasites to society--they are creating zero or negative value, and they are consuming value.

I wonder what happens when people just up and quit donating any money. I see no reason whatsoever to continue donating another penny to that organization, because they haven't given me a penny of value in return. Hopefully, enough people realize that and stop putting money into the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund boxes.

    B-Deserter,

It is not Amway. It has something to do with telephone service. Yes, he does solicit those in the congregation, but worse, he solicits people he calls on in field service.
