it reminds me of winter

i was out chipping ice this bright march morning, thinking that i am SICK of winter and its deathgrip....

spring cannot come soon enough ( not just the official start date, but the upcoming mud season and beyond).... i havent seen grass since november! or leaves on a tree! the only unfrozen water outside is in the tiny birdbath i keep heated for the birds that overwinter!

somewhere in this meander it occurred to me that winter in the upper midwest is a lot like life in " the truth" for one, who like myself, was "persuaded" to believe

that first crisp indication of winter that comes in the later parts of autumn is sooo refreshing... in fact it is downright invigorating! and that first real snowfall that blankets the earth as far as one can see covers everything with a uniform beauty... it truly is breathtaking

for a period of time we are blinded by that beauty to the grim reality that it also grinds to a halt all manner of activity and suspends growth!! each successive dump of snow adds increasing workloads of repitious and back breaking labour to clear a path to get through to even the simplest mundane day to day activities

it is like the intellectual dormancy that is necessary to adhere to the tenets of the teachings of the b0rg..... life in the WTBTS is like a long and seemingly endless bitter winter.....what once was so lovely becomes nothing but a burdensome drudgery of just trying to get through the day, never mind the season

re-emergence is akin to chipping ice and slogging thru rivers of mud with the enduring hope in the inevitablity of new growth and "genuine" new light that warms and nourishes the reality that what life is to be is largely up to us..... not some collective of soulless and encroaching ice floes that are frozen in a mindset of corporate greed and avarice and increasing and intrusive control of people's lives.....

dont worry, mates.... cabin fever is not contagious

Not to mention the drab look of things once all the Christmas decorations have come down.

Yes, it does resemble the Tower. At first, it is something exciting. But, then once you get baptized, the novelty wears off and the drudgery sets in. However, unlike winter, there is absolutely no fun involved. At least with winter, there is some fun in making snow structures, skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing. And, there is a break from the mosquitoes and bees that we will have to deal with in summer. Not to mention the hot, muggy weather that will come with summer.

The Tower, on the other hand, is total misery once the novelty wears off. There isn't a single game or activity that can make it actually enjoyable (some things, like when the boasting sessions get cancelled for snow or the hounder-hounder falls down on the platform) can make it a bit more bearable, but nothing like leaving. And, once you leave the tower, there is nothing like those pesky mosquitoes and bees or unbearably hot, muggy weather to deal with. Just the fun of exposing the mysticism and deception of the Watchtower Society.

    Beautifully expressed, chickpea:

Perhaps you would like to read my paean to Primavera in "The Natural Beauty of Your Neighborhood." It's lurking a couple of pages back.

We finally broke out of Winter, though He could rupture forth momentarily ... March could exit the Lion.

Be of good cheer - you, too, shall emerge radiant from the shackles of your cabin, your fevered brow cooled by undulating spring zephyrs ...
