    Alan Feuerbacher

At the 1998 District Conventions the Watchtower Society released a new book Is There a Creator Who Cares About You? It is another in a long string of books that present and defend the Society's ideas about God with an orientation toward the "scientific" aspects of such ideas. The book is generally well-written in the manner of other such Watchtower books. Unfortunately it has a number of serious flaws, many of which are standard in WTS books like this. In contrast with earlier books, incomplete source references are given, or none at all, and there is no bibliography. This book does not replace previous ones of its genre, but is supplementary to them. For example, the reader is referred to the 1985 book Life: How Did It Get Here? By Evolution or By Creation? for "a further study of the history of life-forms on earth" (p. 102).

I got that book, and it was another piece of sxxx. They have specious reasonings. It details the stock examples in the Bible where God answered specific prayers (a subject I am going to have a lot of fun bashing the crap out of when its study comes up in a couple of weeks) and experiences. It is presented in a disjointed fashion, so there will be a few hundred pieces of evidence of a God that cares about us.

What they don't tell you that is, every single one of the prayer answerings and good experiences/blessings is solely to benefit Jehovah Himself and to further His nefarious agenda. Prayers for victory in battle--all so that Jehovah's will can be forwarded. Prayers about Hezekiah's life when he got sick--so he could have time to do more of Jehovah's will. Blessings in the form of abundance when Jehovah's laws are kept in high profile cases, just so people can see that and follow His stupid rules without actually getting the blessing.

Not only that, but all the "science" is wrong. Hamsterbait would have fun picking apart the stories about the ark, the flood, and evolution itself. And, how could Jehovah part the Red Sea with wind, and people walk across it? I know that He could well part it with wind, but any amount of wind that would blow the water aside would also blow any human bodies, which are about the same weight, aside along with the water. All the science is totally absurd.

I could easily write another book based on this that proves that there is no God, or that there is a God but that He is totally corrupt and malicious, using just this book and some common sense. Bad enough that I could totally prove that God is either non-existent or malicious using just the Bible; the Watchtower Society has made that task much easier by providing such crap science.

I can't wait to tear apart the article about prayers and why we should trust them.
