Out in Service with an Elder...

Some years back I was out in service with an elder and we came upon a househoulder that was interested in a conversation...well he lead it and about 10 minutes later his (the householders) 10 year 0ld son came out onto the pourch and was stung by a wasp the conversation ended and we walked away...the elder then turned to me and said: "Satan works in many ways"...I just thought "or maybe it was a wasp"....

Yea, blame Satan for someone getting stung by a bee. I wish Satan would have made a few bees sting some of my field circus partners, or had some calls cut short that I got dragged into.

Something similar happend to me while in FS with an elder.

Good conversation then the housholders telephone rang in it ended. Brother Elder goes: "Satan has a giant swichboard..."

being out in service with most elders is like being out door to door with a vacuum salesman who has no real idea of what they are talking about. i.e. FDS, GB, 1914 ETC. i just love it when they get their rear end handed to them. I was with one once when he started in telling this individual about how christ came in 1914 and this man (a baptist I believe) told this elder hey you don't know what you are talking about, lets instead talk about false predictions like your 1914, 1918, 1922, 1925, 1941, 1975 and your continual change in doctrine. Well the elder just shut up and mentioned that Satan is surely at work here in this man's house becuase he refuses to hear the truth! I couldn't help it I laughed and he got mad and left me there on my own, "thankfully." I went back and talked a bit with this individual and tried to find some common ground so we talked about the coming kingdom, I asked him how he knew about all those dates and he told me that at one time he had been sucked into studying with a elder in the local congregation and his wife, and when they started talking about all the 1914 stuff, he went out and got some info on his own, seems his uncle had once been a dub and he really opened his eyes up. Well he opened mine too.

my wife always blames things on Satan. I hate that. I cringe.....
