My great grandma's mom once sewed her husband into the bed where he collapsed drunk. She proceeded to beat the sh*t out of him. But that was because he beat the sh*t out of her first. So the saying among the women in my family is, "You have to sleep sometime!".

My aunt threw a pot of hot oatmeal on her husband after he beat her. It was the first time he ever laid a hand on her and it was also the last! So in repayment for the complimentary black eye, cut lip, broken ribs and concussion he got 2nd degree burns.
