Think for one minute ; It is impossible for the human mind to truly comprehend God.By that I mean suppose we ,the human race, know as much about God as my dog knows about me.The dog is aware of me going out and coming in,being taken for a walk, having his meals put out for him etc. But he has no concept of the place he lives in, the country or town.He knows nothing about the universe and this planet. He knows nothing not even being able to add one and one.Same situation with a goldfish in a bowl, it hasn't a clue about the local pond, lake,or ocean, all it knows is the bowl. Now suppose our situation is similar to the dog and goldfish . We think we have some kind of understanding of God when in fact we don't know the reality by any stretch of the imagination.

Maybe God hasn't revealed himself to man and that everything we think we know about God is purely mans invention and imagination , we are as dogs and goldfish.

    Excellent post!

I do believe in "divinity" as a concept but I agree with you that God, Gods and Goddesses are a product of the human imagination. We make divinity appear human so we can attempt to understand it/him/her.

Having said that, I think that gods are a good way to visualise the divine and it doesn't hurt as long as we realise that we're only looking out of the goldfish bowl and seeing something totally distorted.

    Goodness Edmond Dantes,

That's rather deep. I like the way you think..

I think we are more like the goldfish than the dog. At least the dog has contact with humans. On second thought, maybe the goldfish has an advantage over us too as it can see us when we are in its field of vision.

I agree that our understanding of things is guite limited by our view of things on this spect of dust called the earth.

If we are like dogs and goldfish try to imagine what must be out there that we don't know about. That's why the human race must never give up the will to explore possibilities because that keeps us optimistic.

The dog and the goldfish gets to see somebody and we feed them. That is more then I can say about God. He does nothing.

God IS mans invention. Think about what we do know.

    1. We are traveling through space on a rock.( very fast )

    2. Mountains were not formed by a great flood.

    3. Man has been controling other men to their injury for as long as we've been here. ( Religion )

    4. The Bible says nothing about Dinosours but talks about sea monsters. ( I would think a whale was a monster too if I didn't know better.)

I would say I was inspired by a higher power too if I wanted people to believe what I had wrote. ( I would also call them fools like the Bible does ) if they don't believe.

God never had a beginning and never has an end and our little brains just can't understand the things of god. ( so just keep believing )

    Live free or die.

The god that you have not experienced is an invention. Actually, i don't believe that we are constructs of a deity, out there, somewhere. However, in the socalled self exploration known as meditation, a person is able, at times to transcend the ego, mind and body. In that emptiness can be apprehended our source. Could be delusion, of course. It's there for you to try, if you want, and accept or reject, if you do experience it. Just hope you don't go like obves, or jcanon, or aguest. They are still in their minds, imo.
