Not specifically. Jesus said every tree not producing fruit would be cut down and thrown in the fire but he gave no specifics on whether the tree typified an individual or a group.

As for Babylon being destroyed, remember it came from the book of Revelation for one ( a book that wasn't in the bible canon untill the 4th century because of it's wackyness), and that "Babylon" is widely disputed as to who she typifies. As for her "waters drying up", would you say religion is losing....or gaining members?

In my town there is no sign of religion closing their doors as there seems to be a church on every block.

I've never seen anything to indicate this. I think this whole "false religion" thing is a construct of the JWs because, if there is "false" religion, there must be "true" religion. This is an attempt to promote themselves as the "true" religion. Since nothing else they've ever said is true, I don't know why we'd believe the fall of false religion doctrine, either, considering the source is tainted.

The idea that "Babylon" refers to "false religion" is a legacy of the Protestant Reformation. Originally, "Babylon" referred to the city of Rome in Revelation and in other contemporaneous Jewish-Christian works (such as the Sybilline Oracles and 4 Ezra). The detailed description of the harlot of Babylon in Revelation makes this abundantly clear. The prophecy concerns the destruction of the Roman Empire, which was then persecuting Christians.

The current Babylon = "false religion" belief derives from this original understanding. "Rome" became the Roman Catholic Church in the days of the Reformation, and the interpretation remained focused on Catholicism and the "Papacy" for several centuries. Then the JWs expanded this to all religion other than themselves, the so-called "world empire of false religion". But this idea is rooted in the older understanding that Babylon signified Rome.

Same thing around here. The churches are packed every Sunday. In fact, the only one that isn't packed is the Kingdumb Hall. I know it bugs the local elders that there's a church right up the street that's 3 times the size of the KH and they have excellent attendence all the time.

This must be especially annoying as it goes directly against what the Witnesses are taught.
