See! You've got so much autonomy as an apostate you don't have to write anything if you don't want to!

I think the blank space represents the amount of freedom one has as a witless.

The reply comments made me laugh!
Like you all, I contemplated autonomy as a JW for about ........two seconds!
There isnt any autonomy as a JW.
THEY WONT LET YOU BE AUTONOMOUS! I WANTED TO BE LET ALONE TO ENJOY MY
LOVE OF JEHOVAH AND MY NEIGHBOR, BUT NO THAT IS NOT ALLOWED!
You actually hit upon why I became disenchanted with the org.
I was exhausted with all the meetings and field service, writing talks and conducting bible studies all the while taking care of a very handicapped family member.
Do you think I could stay at home just one weekend? Oh no!!! We must struggle to get to Jehovahs house through rain, wind, sleet, snow, pneumonia, broken legs, and give the number 3 talk with a fat swollen lip infection.
Do you know how many times we missed the bus after the Service Meeting and I had to push a wheelchair miles home in the dark all by myself? I cringe at the goddamn ridiculousness of it all now!!!!!!
What was it all for?????
Was I building up a bank of mercy for when I needed it most?
Believe me there was none at my JC!!!
No, there is no autonomy as a JW. To be a JW is to join a hive. There is no living away from the hive.
That is why I have now embraced buddhism and the tao. ah peace and solitude. -

Thanks for sharing your experience of your stolen autonomy anewme!
It is quite amazing the lengths they can push a human to when they know all your autonomy lies in their regulations!

Maybe this is the single most important reason to leave JWs?
Personal Autonomy!

Independence is never really encouraged. Most folks want to follow the same genetic pattern of marriage, kids, and home. JWs want singleness, no kids, and perpetual renting or Bethel/Missionary people. Everytime something bad happens, it's because someone's out to get you and you need to rely on something other than yourself. You're not allowed to feel good about accomplishing anything.

Correct SN,
and it's why those who leave find it tough to start relying on their single self - almost like institutionalisation if not absolutely so because even family may be rejecting you as well as you yourself due the spiritual self destruct.
