I was wondering whether anyone knows of any religions similar in size and/or wealth to the WBTS that are now defunct? Don't say anything like the Mayan civilisation , I'm talking recent and from the same mold as the borg.
Any examples of large wealthy religions that have folded?

Not gone but seriously reduced and changed in recent times. A good example as to what could happen to JW's. But probably just wishful thinking

It's the Herbert W Armstrong and Garner Ted that I remember most from the the sixties, they are not on the radio now at least. Give them enough rope and the Jdubs will give up the ghost eventually.Nothing lasts forever and I mean nothing.

Good question and you know what came into my head?
WT early doors harping about the scripture where Jesus says he came to divide families!
And how if the WT can get you to swallow this early doors, they can also get you to desert any family who leave in years to come!
This is a key brainwashing technique to let them know they have you even above your inner circle of close family!
Imagine a large family sitting down to dinner and the WT knowing everyone of them would leave the others if they deemed it necessary?
Cult is why they thrive and survive like some carnivorous serpent feeding on the souls of the easy and trusting!
