Wow, signs of the end in the "great events of the day" in '77. Not 1977, mind you, 1877. I bet most Americans today don't have the foggiest notion what was going on in 1877.

My exact thought Leo,
Dontya just love yourself for finding out so late??
'Nods head, then forcibly stops. but body wavers to and fro'
How I wished it was Woody who'd knocked at my door instead of Buzz!

So in 1877, the 40 years from 1874 to 1914, were not the time of the harvest , but "the time of trouble" ?

I especially like the close:
"The above subjects illustrated by means of large painted charts."
Awesome. Awesome to the max.
I do hope the charts are gaily colored! 'Twould be ever so whimsical!

I think Barbour held that both would occur in the 40-year period from 1874 to 1914. The "harvest" is 40 years in length, in parallel to the original Christian harvest from AD 29 (starting with John the Baptist) to 69 (up to the siege of Jerusalem). Since Jesus went to heaven in AD 33, this would mean that the elect would be glorified with heavenly existence in 1878. As for the time of trouble, this parallels the 40-year period of the collapse of the Jewish system (which prevailed in the Jewish Age) between AD 29-69 in the first phase of the Gospel Age, such that the first 40 years of the Millennial Age would have a collapse of the Gentile system that prevailed during the Gospel Age. At least that is what I recall of Barbour's system -- I may have made a mistake however.

Note the song in the tract....it's the BATTLE HYMN OF THE REPUBLIC!
Won't find that one in today's Kingdom Melodies.
