sadly, we have already lost a 100 year old white pine ( missed the outbuilding by less than a meter!) and the tarp on the portable garage is in shreds.... we are in a total whiteout and the power has gone out once already for 4 hours..... last night we bottled 10 gallons of water since we depend on a well for water.and no power means no heat or pump!

spring blizzard has to be my least favourite oxymoron >>>>>>>>>>>>

BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT SATURDAY...

WIDESPREAD BLIZZARD CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE...ESPECIALLY NEAR THE LAKE . AN ADDITIONAL 4 TO 6 INCHES OF SNOW WILL OCCUR BY FRIDAY EVENING.

WHITE-OUT CONDITIONS FROM HEAVY SNOW... AND WIND GUSTS TO 55 MPH WILL BE POSSIBLE. THE STRONG WINDS AND SNOW WILL RESTRICT VISIBILITIES TO NEAR ZERO AND HAVE DOWNED TREES AND POWER LINES. AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM CANNOT BE RULED OUT.

A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE OCCURRING. FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS AND POOR VISIBILITIES ARE HAPPENING. THIS WILL LEAD TO WHITEOUT CONDITIONS...MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. DO NOT TRAVEL. IF YOU MUST...HAVE A WINTER SURVIVAL KIT WITH YOU. IF YOU GET STRANDED...STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE. WITH THE HEAVY WET SNOW... WATCH FOR DOWNED POWER LINES IF YOU MUST DRIVE.

    it gets better!!

REPORTED WAVE HEIGHTS UP TO 12 FEET. WITH NORTHEAST WINDS OF 40 TO 45 KNOTS...AND GUSTS IN EXCESS OF 50 KNOTS CONTINUING OVER WESTERN LAKE WAVE HEIGHTS WILL CONTINUE TO BUILD TODAY. WAVES AS HIGH AS 16 FEET ARE EXPECTED TODAY OVER THE COASTAL AREAS. THIS COULD RESULT IN MINOR SHORELINE FLOODING AND EROSION FOR AREAS ADJACENT TO THE LAKE. AREAS WITH A FLAT SHORELINE...OR WITH A LESS GRADUAL SLOPE TO DAMPEN THE WAVES BEFORE THEY REACH THE SHORELINE...WILL BE MORE SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE EFFECTS OF THE WAVE ACTION. THE HIGH WAVES COULD CAUSE SOME MINOR BEACH EROSION AND COASTAL FLOODING. ALTHOUGH WATER LEVELS ON THE LAKE ARE BELOW NORMAL FOR THE ENTIRE LAKE...HARBOR REPORTING STATION IS REPORTING RISING WATER LEVELS OVER THE PAST DAY. THIS IS LIKELY DUE TO WATER PILING UP IN THE WESTERN TIP OF THE LAKE

USE CAUTION IF TRAVELING NEAR THE LAKE SHORELINE. DO NOT VENTURE NEAR BREAKWALLS OR OTHER STRUCTURES ALONG THE SHORELINE... AND DO NOT DRIVE INTO AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY. IN ADDITION...BEWARE OF ANY ICE THAT MAY BE THROWN ONTO ROADWAYS

This weekend is supposed to be nice although that makes up for being woken up at 4am by the tornado sirens Wednesday.

    Wow Chickpea,

Looks like you're in for a heck of ride this week-end. So sorry, it's got to end soon...

We had a couple nice days and now we're back to rainy, cold and windy. With lower than normal temps.. next week. YUCK....

    I am so over it....

Rain, hail and possibly some bright spells - we tend to get the remains of what you had over there...

Guess it'll be the same for a few days more yet then

We had dense fog in places this morning, and it is supposed to be cloudy and chilly (40s), with a chance of a rain shower. We could get a rain (or snow, but I don't count on it) shower tomorrow morning, but not enough to do any good for anyone that still has to go to those boasting sessions.
