Anyone Here Attend the New PO Elder's School?

My ex-father-in-law just got back from the first elder's school for the presiding overseers. Anyone else attend? Anyone hear anything about it?

I have a feeling there is nothing new taught there. My guess is that this is intended to tighten up the screws on everyone! Get 'em all in line and make sure the goose steps are synchornized.

This is the reason for this new "school"--to take care of all these problems. The next step is to send someone from the Value Destroyer Training School to fix them. Of course, under the directive of the hounder-hounders.

Can anyone confirm the schedule? When/Will regular elders be attending?

Not sure what the rest of the schedule is. They started with the POs and will likely work their way through the body over the next year or so.

This was the word I just got about the school:

"My Dad's PO school wasn't new stuff, just a lot on studying, using the CD rom, etc. He loved it...."

Hmmm... "a lot of studying." In the light of the Sept. 07 Question Box, etc. I can pretty much tell what this school was based on these comments. It was a weeklong course on how to use the WTS's literature to research your questions.

That's it. "WE (WTS) have all the answers and we'll show you how to find them."

Anyone else hear anything? Just more demonizing of researching anything outside Witness literature. I can imagine the strong discouragement that would have been made of researching on the Internet.

The WTS's greatest fear is the open debate of ideas and free and full access to information. The elder's school was just one more attempt to keep the rank and file from any outside influence, research or information.

At our SAD (was there ever a better acronym), the visiting speaker mentioned that it would take 3 years to get through all the POs in the US. The goal is to have all the elders go through the school, eventually, but POs go first.

as for anyone from the VDTS (aka MTS) actually "fixing" things...no...we were told we were not there to "fix" things...we were told we were there to "support the local elders and pioneers" and "help build up the congregation"....... meaning...... we were warm bodies there to prop up old, dying, fading congregations dominated by one or two elders and their families and had all the crap work no one else wanted to do... believe me, they dumped whatever they were sick of doing on me and the other grad during the short time I was in my assignment...
