Has anyone on this form have any experience with either themselves or a family member with a hearing disease called Otosclerosis? The Operation for this disease is called a Stapedectomy. If so, can anyone tell me approximately how much this operation costs? My son has been diagnosed with this disease, and his insurance does not cover the operation. Any help or info would be appreciated.

It sounds like the middle ear is going to be rerouted. The stapes, or stirrup, seems to have a problem that prevents sound from being transmitted and has to come out. It is a rather delicate operation because of the size of the stapes.
As for costs, I guess that depends on how much the doctors are willing to accept. Insurance doesn't get involved because it is a relatively rare problem (most hearing loss is because people have their damn headphones up too loud all the time).
