At last the Watchtower Study that Changes "This Generation"

Since I was 16 years old, the one belief that always kept me going because it set a limit on how long

the present system would last before God started Armageddon and then usher in of a 1,000 years of

peace was the "generation teaching". The generation who saw 1914 would not pass away until the end

came. This teaching was altered again in 1995. Well this major building block of the Witchtower Bable

and Trick Society, which I believed in with my whole heart for 40 years was changed again in just 45 minutes in the

Watchtower study today without a single comment made about another change in this doctrine. There was

one elder who commented that the light is getting brighter with our understanding. The light is strarting to

get so bright that I am going to start wearing sunglasses to the meetings. There was many comments about

that it would be an extended time from 1914 for all parts of the sign to be fulfilled and that it would take many

years for this to take place. Then in the next breath comments are made about the nearness and how soon

it will be and having a sense of urgency. JW's talk about 1914 like it was just a short period of time ago.

1914 was last century!!!!!!!! If Jesus became King in 1914 what has he been doing??? There were also comments

about how there are new anointed being added who aren't as old as the majority of this special class of people.

The Watchtower gave us all the assurance that some of Christ anointed brothers will still be alive on earth when

the great tribulation begins. So again the WTBTS speaks out of both sides of thier mouth. It could be many

years away but it is so near. It is like Jesus said in the next to the last verse in the book of Revelation 2,000

years ago "I am coming quickly."

an extended time from 1914 for all parts of the sign to be fulfilled and that it would take many years for this to take place.

Then why bother living the JW life until the parts of the sign indicate that fulfillment is near? This don't-get-too-excited-in-case-you-don't-see-Armageddon™-in-your-lifetime-but-don't-start-being-slackers-either mentality must be driving some JWs to the brink of insanity.

Your discussion about extended time yet nearness, taking years yet coming quickly, reminds

me of an incident my dad use to joke about. One of our country neighbors who is now in his 80's

use to like to visit a kindly old granny type neighbor who lived just a quarter of a mile down the road. As a

little boy he wanted to visit her one day because of her kindness and of course cookies and drinks!

He was visiting away for a time when he said to this kindly grannyIs it a little while yet? What do you mean chuckles

the kindly granny? "Well mom said I could come over but could only stay a little while".

This was joked about for years, this now elderly gentleman used to get red faced every time people

brought it up. But does it not clearly illustrate the absurdity of words like soon, near, a little while, their meaning

    is basically meaningless!

By the way I always enjoy your postings, down to earth and humorous but always make their points.

This is an easy one to deal with. What the WTB&TS is really saying is, "Hurry up, and wait."

Rutherford said, "Millions Now Living Will Never Die."

Why did he say that? I speculate that he said that because the rank-and-file
numbers were dwindling. They needed some fire breathed into the organization.
The core of his teaching was that exciting changes were coming by 1925.
"Keep up with the chariot. Be a part of the imminent changes."

Fred Franz stirred up the "Stay Alive Til 1975" campaign.

Why did they do that? Their numbers were okay. They needed better than
"okay." There were some major printing presses to pay for. Modernization costs
money. If they could get a bunch of new members to pay for this, the fallout
afterward would be smaller than the resultant growth. So many members
pioneered and sold so much literature for this "last minute" lifesaving work.
So what if a few thousand members sold their homes and burned their financial
life-savings to participate? Jehovah will bless them.

Today's leader-group, the Governing Body have many lawsuits to pay for. The
Brooklyn buildings are almost all gone. The older Bethelites are outta there. The
quality of the books is down. Every last thing has to be trimmed to tighten the
budget. OH WAIT, the members hate it all. Keep changing the doctrine to
distract them. Maybe they are going to come out with even more "new light" to
reinvigorate the members, because we are really really really sure the end is close
    this time.

If the Witchtower Jesus takes this long to come, he must be a great lover! And seven times too...

The JW cattle should not be happy because they came to a dead end after decades of misleading information, misdirection and sacrifices they had to make that finally proved pointless. There is no end in sight.

It's not so much a case of increasing light (how innocent and even constructive that sounds) as it is one of never ending manipulation, deception and exploitation.
