Anzac day brings strong emotions of those who died for the freedoms we take for granted. The dawn service is allways too early but we will make it to the march today.

ANZAC Day – 25 April – is probably Australia's most important national occasion. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. ANZAC stands for Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. The soldiers in those forces quickly became known as ANZACs, and the pride they soon took in that name endures to this day.

I had a great uncle who was shot while still in the water with his mates trying to take the beach at Gallipolly in Turkey. The site of the Anzac tradition.

Barry: they're making a bad pun on the name of presciption med for depression.

I'm glad your country makes such a tradition out of Anzac day. A lot of your people sacrificed a lot on a poorly conceived and badly executed battle plan. If I recall it was Churchill's idea. We are all lucky the military people didn't let him try again in WWII.

A salute to all those being remembered today.
