I could NEVER get my wife and child to be ready on time. An older brother told me from his experience that's pretty common and I should just get used to it.

Everyone is late once in a while, but habitual late people piss me off. In business you learn that people that are late send the following message: You are not important. I am. You should wait for me.
Lateness is a sign of disrespect. When you are late, you are disrespectful. Period. I am not late, and I rarely tolerate people who are.
The JWs that are late are the ones who feel really important about their status within the JW organization. They may think that they deserve to be late to meetings because the rules don't apply to them. And that crap may fly at the Kingdumb Hell. Where they make their mistake is when they think that self-appointed importance carries over into the real world. When they try that crap at work one too many times, they find themselves unemployed. I've seen it happen.
Bottom line, be on time. Learn to read a watch and schedule your time. Don't be a disrespectful dick. The end.

Noticeably, I have seen them try to cram one more call in field circus. The witlesses have to be somewhere at, say 5 PM. So they try to see how close they can cut it and stay out in field circus until the very last second. Often they get that last call that runs late or have traffic hangups that make them even later.

I think a lot of it has to do with the newer generations. It is as though just being around the time is ok. My kids are like that. If I want them to be at my house for dinner etc. then I just make the time earlier, then they are on my time.
I do think it is worse among jws. Some at the hall are always late. My experience with jws are they are mostly just irrresponsible period, but that may just may be opionion.

Because I was an elder we would always take two cars. I would arrive early. The wife (now ex) would arrive about 20 minutes after the start of the program. Once when we had to go to the airport ane she was loligagging I told her "going to the airport is not like going to the meeting, you can't be late!"

I feel the same as posted below by Dorktacular:

I am hyper vigilant about time, .....mine and anyone elses.
I have learned to lie about arrival times for those in my life that can't get their act togther. Usually stating an hour earlier then when they are expected. (HE he he, they then arrive when they are suppose to.)
If you can't bother to look at a clock, consider traffic time and add 15 minutes for unforseen problems.....grow up! My old boss, who was an attorney said that he could set his watch by my me. ......I was proud of that! I worked with another girl who lived 20 minutes closer to the office and was always 30 minutes late. I loved her dearly, but she would blow in late, spend another 30 minutes settling into her seat and by that time I was always ready to smack her when the pressure was on for the day.
Of course she always stayed late, to make up her missed time, and I was the girl who always left the office early......thats what irks me to no end!
Keeping people waiting on a regular basis is insulting and showing yourself as a very self absorbed ass.
