Have you taken CPR? Does Jehovah Approve??

  I took a 4 hour refresher CPR course this morning. Boy have things changed! I think everyone should have CPR. I have to every 2 years.

  I was the only student, and it was the mother of one of my former girl scouts, teaching the class. .

  The woman showed NO mercy. 30 chest compressions/ 2 breaths X 5 on the floor, on my knees. With a steady barrage of stop, look at your hand position, tilt the victims neck more, WAIT, what comes first? What would happen if????? Adult, Youth, Baby.

  Then choking victims. Not just the Heimlich maneuver, which by the way, they have renamed abdominal thrusts, But the damn mannequin never would spit it out, She kept telling me that he was passing out, and back on the floor I would go!!!

  Run and get the AED. Come back, and back on my knees, attaching pads, and pretend shocking the pretend patient. The best part, of the whole morning, is getting to yell CLEAR . And pushing the shock button.

  My knees are so sore!! Next time, I am wearing some kind of knee pads.

  And if any of you go out???? You may only be able to get one round of, 30/2 X 5 out of me. So, you best come around pretty fast!!!

  If you are choking, you had better spit that baby out. I don't know if I can let you down to the ground easily. I'm thinking, as a side note, that if I do drop you, you may be jarred into spitting it out anyway! A win/win solution!

  By the way, what do the JW's think of CPR???

  Is it a form of masturbation to blow in the mouth of a mannequin? To do abdominal "thrusts" on the abs of a mannequin. What about "chest" compressions? Between the nipples?

  What about the exchange of saliva, with someone who is a stranger, and more than likely a "worldly" person. Blind finger sweeps? If Jehovah wanted to intervene, why would that person need CPR?

  Is it appropriate for a married Witness, to do CPR on a woman? He would be touching part of her breasts. Could he be reproved? Would or could his wife forgive? Would this be classified as pornea?

  What about straddling a choking victim?? Now, that has to be a judicial meeting right there!!

  Considering the intimate procedures done by a doctor, nurse, EMT, or other health professional, I don't think it would be an issue, unless jws reject all medical procedures and treatment, which they don't.

  i really need a refresher course, but i used to teach CPR in the military.... i was a combat medical specialist and every year the members of the unit had to recertify.... i can remember the training .... having the students doing the thrusts and then saying.... you are too slow, and the patient has collapsed from lack of oxygen! and having partners slide to tthe floor....

  i remember a line in the manual that said a badly beating heart is more efficeint than the best CPR so to check often for spontaneous breaths and heartbeats..... wonder if they still teach that?

  it is a physically demanding activity to be sure! good for you for staying certified

  OUR company has these auto cpr machines about...they are suppose to be fool proof just place the pads on the chest and the machine determines if a shock is needed...I also heard the latest CPR method does not require breathing into the mouth to be effective...but then again what the grim reaper does not accomplish sniper kitty will finish...

  blind finger sweeps ?? my instructor who is a nurse stated that this should NEVER be done.You could loose a finger.

  LOL Lance, You are right. You should never do blind finger sweeps. I just found the whole class full of sexual innuendos. Blind Finger Sweeps was said or
  
  written over 5 times. I felt like a school girl, trying to stop from giggling, everytime I heard or twisted something in my mind, to something that could be referred to
  
  as sexual. I had to take my mind off of my aching knees!!!!

  If anyone is interested in getting their cpr cards updated I can give you the number of my brother who does that for a living. He is a Witness.

  I took cpr in 2002. While I was weak in the "truth". I didn't question what god would think.

  If Jehovah wanted to intervene, why would that person need CPR?

  He doesn't intervene any other time. I think he is busy.lol

  I requal every year on CPR and it has really changed in the past few years. Performed it on a big older man a couple of years ago. Continued for 45 minutes until we landed at an alternate airport. We attached the AED (automatic external defibrillator) but since his heart wasn't in defib it didn't shock him. It did show that our compressions were showing as heart beats. We were lucky to have a cardiologist and an EMT to assist us. Color did return to his face as we worked on him. He was declaired dead on the way to the hosp. I think he was dead b4 we started but we have to continue until a Dr. on the ac radio tells us to stop.

  I did a first aid and CPR course about 5 years ago, just after my son was born. My company sent me on it. Fortunately, the only thing I have had to do since is apply an icepack to a bruise. I really should do a refresher.
