I saw Bob Dylan last nite and he rocked. His voice and manner were amazing. He played a 10 minute version of Tangled up in Blue. Three solos and a two minute jam at the end. He played forever young, blowin in the wind, and finished off his third encore with all along the watchtower. Absolutly f-ing amazing.

His band is amazing, and the people who said his voice was dead are wrong. He hit notes I didn't know he could. He was pulling Brain Wilson harmonies with the other bandmembers. Especially moving during blowin in the wind.

Any of you ever see Dylan in concert?

I'm a real fan of Bob D. I have about 95% of everything he ever recorded and that's alot.
I've never been to one of his concerts, because I'm not a concert goer.
I've heard alot of good revues and alot of bad revues of his concerts.
He is very unpredictable as far as how good his concerts will be, you must have caught him on one of his good days.
Most people feel he doesn't have a great set of pipes(voice), but I feel his voice is just fine.
It alway amazes me as to how many people hate his music, my wife being one of them.
To me he's a great poet and song writter.

If someone lived a trillion X longer than you, and had a billion X more reasoning ability would he come to the same conclusions as you?

Saw him at a festival in London about six years ago - amazing eyes, glimmering and glittering in a darkly knowing sort of way. The Pogues were on the same bill and the whole day rocked. Forgottn who else was on the bill owing to copious amounts of lager being imbibed.

I had a dream I saw Dylan last night. Seriously! There were all these couches up by the stage and this guy I work with brought me right up to the front and we were kickin it on these couches watching Dylan. And yes, the band did rock!

Saved- Slow Train Coming- Desire. Best 3 albums IMHO

Mohammed- 'My teachings lead to the attainment of truth'
Buddha- 'The truth has been revealed to me'

I too have nearly everything he's recorded but have never been to see him live. I gather it is hit and miss whether he's absolutely incredible or aweful.

I do love his music and I think his voice is right for a lot of the lyrics - it adds to the feeling.

Ash, your description matches what I said after he had been here in Bergen this summer. Magnificent performance, and a great band. I also saw him in Roskilde (Denmark) in '95, and was impressed back then, but I was even more so this year.

    Ashitika - you lucky bastard!

If it wasn't for playing Bob Dylan tapes over and over in the car 1970's bubblegum disco and watchtower world would have sent me completely insane. (being the only Dylan fan this side of the black stump wasn't easy lol)

On sliding free 'changing of the guards' became something of a mantra for me. The words 'Gentlemen he said' still send shivers up my spine.

Well, the rifleman’s stalking the sick and the lame,
Preacherman seeks the same, who’ll get there first is uncertain.
Nightsticks and water cannons, tear gas, padlocks,
Moltov cocktails and rocks behind every curtain,
False-hearted judges dying in the webs that they spin,
Only a matter of time until night comes stepping in.

Yeah, Jokerman...jeez....but he didn't play a set like that last nite...it was very spiritual, beautiful. He knew what the audience wanted. Some of it, he rocked out asses off. The rest of it he was taking us to church...completly moving.

It wasn't a Jokerman set....I was hoping for Visions of Johanna, and such, maybe something from Desire.

I have to just say again that it was amazing..

I have seen His Bobness 15 times since since 1978. On 3 different continents. Last time was Germany (last year), the show in Frankfurt where he was making big eye-contact with a beautiful Turkish girl in the front row.
Was anyone else at that show??

I recommend everyone to get the new CD, Love and Theft. Its very different and takes some time getting used to, but its really worth the effort. I just love "Floater".
