Do they continue the conventions for the favorable press?

Everytime a convention is coming to town they always banner the headlines showing favorable views of the Jw's. Of course like everything else one can follow the cash as motive.

Is this the reason that the GB continue to put on stale/unchanging/boring conventions? Public image is improved?

    Thoughts?

Cash, a chance to guilt trip and scare the R&F shitless because Armageddon is right around the corner, also to blow smoke up the R&F's asses with progress reports and testimonials of 14 year olds talking about vacation pioneering, they get to watch 8 year olds get baptised, they've convinced the R&F that ASSemblies are one big picnic, ad nauseum.

Also, I think the GB thinks of ASSemblies as a way to get the JWs to stick out like sore thumbs in their communities.

I hate ASSemblies and everything about them. Sitting on hard chairs or benches for 9 hours + a day is not my idea of fun.

They always hold the conventions in December this side - that is too make sure you're holidays are interrupted, so you cant go off and enjoy family time. To keep the rank and file in line during this oh so fesitve pagan month. To collect more money - a deffinate yes.

Hmm perhaps I should send a little something something to the papers this year.

The WTS feeds the media press releases with favorable statements. If a reporter does come out, they know little about the behind the door processes of the WTS. The WTS PR area also carefully screens the jws to be interviewed, even feeding them what to say.

There was a Google news article about a week ago about a convention in Florida.

It was getting quite a few comments from X-JWs and never JWs.

It is about getting the witlesses ostracized by the community. They are all dressed up after the program, with their embarrassment badges still on. They are always talking theocraptic bullsxxx that is basically a waste of time. They are told not to shop at the malls (the money belongs in the Worldwide Pedophile Defense Fund).

I am not even going--I always get all the information I need from those wastefests right on this board. And I don't even have to wear my embarrassment badge.

At one time The Watch Tower held SEVEN DAY conventions in stadiums! These were exercises in endurance. People had to suffer being outdoors in the hot sun all day, and in the cold at night, no one could concentrate or even remember what the speaker during the day had said.

The Watchtower was just plain MEAN in making people suffer fo a whole week like that.
