What goes at a Catholic funeral Mass? I am thinking of attending one this evening. A former doctor of mine died last week. Suicide. She was very close to my age. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Her family was from another state and recieved friends and had a memorial service for her where she is from. I have noone to go with me. As of yet anyway.

even tho i have not been to a catholic funeral
since my grandmother's 25 yrs ago...
this liturgy looks relatively unchangedsorry for the loss in your community

I thought Catholics didn't allow a funeral mass for suicides because they consider it a sin.

Catechism of the Catholic Church, page 550, #2282 - "Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or great fear of hardship, suffering or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide."
C.C.C., page 550, #2283 - "We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutory repentence."
