Very cool - I noticed it when looking up some destinations in another city, but not in my hometown just yet.
There's also an application for people who want to walk between destinations: Google Map Pedometer
I love that function. It has been live in Portland for about a year I think, and I use it frequently since I don't drive.
I have found it helpful in checking where the Kingdumb Hells are, so I will not be ambushed. Too bad some of the maps are out of date--it shows a single Kingdumb Hell when there was a double built there (part 2 was built in early 2006, after I had left).
