Perhaps someone can help me. My sister-in-law says she remembers a Watchtower or AWAKE! article where the WBTS pictured a train heading from 1914 to 1975 where the tracks ended. Her mom is a diehard witness and her dad was smart enough to stay out. She asked me if I could find the article. I think she said this was on the cover of the magazine. Can anyone help? I have never started a post so I'm not sure this is working.

    Thanks.

Actually, this picture is of a train plunging headlong into a chasm with a timeline just behind it 1914 to 1975 if I remember correctly - like a huge crack in the earth - I have seen it in the bound volume - not sure which year it is - I think 65 or 66. I believe it is in the Awake; as far as I remember it was not on the front page but within an article. Don't have access to it just now, but I seem to remember it actually being scanned in a previous post not too long ago....anybody else able to pull it up quickly?

I think they were touting 1975 as the end of 6000 years of human history or some such...

According to the spiritual chronology I came to using the Bible the year 1974 AD was the 6000th year since Adam.

This small difference can teach you that Jehovah's Witnesses might be very close to the truth if they came up with the year 1975 AD.

Find another christian religion where people came up with the year 1975 AD . Or who is identified of all christian religions with the date 1914 AD? The dates given here are not to drive away people who look for the Truth of the Bible but to bring them closer to God.

I am not sure bout that article but the one question I was ask on a sheparding call that I could never get out of my head is "Why did the Watchtower stop mentioning the end of 6000 years of human existance shortly after 1975" at first I brushed it off but as I thought more about it (btw this brother was bring this up in the late 1990's) I realized I needed to do more research sure enough they just stoped bring up 6000 years of human exsistance about the time they blamed the rank and file for wrecklessly speculating about 1975

Doing some research on calendars, in particular our calendar, you will find that there is no accurate date . For instance a pope took two weeks out just to match up with some of catholic dogma, not sure what it was. Some experts say our calendar could be off as much as 30 years.

Another problem with coming up with 1914 is that russell counted his days from 606/607 up to our day not counting for the difference in the length of years. He just counted years as in our calendar. He also did not allow for leap years as far as I can tell. And everyone knows that he forgot about the zero year thing. People that believe in numerology seem to forget alot of those little things.

I am definitely not an expert on this, but I have always thought it would be impossible to come up with the exact date.

There are hundreds of dates throughout time that some nut has said would be the end of the world, or the start or end of something or another, they were never correct of course. It has been proven over and over again that man has no insight into the future. Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour, and he was so correct.

I still believe this all had to do with the destruction of Jerusalem. Even Titus, after looking over the massive and total destruction of the city in disbelief, said (paraphrased) 'surely god had a hand in the destruction of this great city, for I certainly had no control of it myself.' The temple had even been destroyed after his explicit orders not to harm it. He wanted it to stand as a testimony to the power of rome.

    OBVES challenged:

Find another christian religion where people came up with the year 1975 AD.

OK -- I'll take that challenge!

Herbert W. Armstrong's Worldwide Church of God "came up" with the year 1975 AD.

If it is true what you are giving this would be a nice sign to turn our attention also to the religion Armstrong represented and check it out in the light of the Bible.

You heard about Ronald Weinland ? He is conntected to Armstrong and he is predicting the end of the world which shows again we should be interested in religion of those who are predicting the end as they may know something.

Ronald Weinland's views are pretty good and surpass those of most christian religions .When you start with Weinland you already have most christian religions behind you and you are very close to the views of Jehovah's Witnesses .

So then you compare the views of both who share in the date 1975 AD. You task is easy as you have narrowed the search to a few religions.

And then you can add the year 1914 AD and you disqualify Armstrong and Weinland.

    OBVES said,

And then you can add the year 1914 AD

WHY? Did something happen in 1914?

    I'll need some PROOF.

By the way, is English not your native tongue, or are you doing crystal meth?
