    Hi

I've been going through some of the 'Best Of' section, compiled, I believe, by Lady Lee. Firstly thanks Lady Lee for sorting them. They are so interesting to read and could do with highlighting more on the site I feel. Although I've been visiting this site on and off for several years I am still a 'babe' learning and reading what is in this section. Highly recommended.

Anyway I can't help but notice that apart from Farkel (some of the funniest stuff I've read here) that they don't seem to post anymore. I do recall some very regrettable fallout with AlanF but what about the others.

    Any comments/news?

    Thanks

    Thomas Covenant

PS. I know there are others on the 'Best of ' . No offence for not mentioning names.

I enjoyed Maximus' post very much. They were insightful and contained much that was interesting.

But he stopped posting here years ago.

JanG and larc have both passed away I am sorry to say.

JanH stopped posting awhile ago and I believe started posting at another forum. I don't know even if he still posts.

He wrote a very interesting thesis on the subject of Judge Rutherford.

I think AlanF made some remark that some mods were drunk or something to that effect, and Simon found that unacceptable. Hence Alan be gone now from this site!

I am still working on the Best of series. After I fried my motherboard am a tad behind - like 3 years behind!!!

You noticed that some of the earliest sections were used posters names. Initially I thought that was the best way to do this. But as you saw I quickly switched to a topic related format rather than a poster related format. I did leave the initial threads by poster name because they are/were the foundation to what this board has become.

As noted above few of the early members post here anymore.

VM is correct - Jan G and larc have both passed away. Maximus has a serious health problem and I believe doesn't post anywhere. A few others have moved on to other boards or have moved on with their lives A few have gone to belief.net and continue to discuss doctrine.

In a way I see three - no four stages this board has gone through

    1. active JWs who needed to explore WT beliefs and policies. Many of these posters came from the old H2O board. This board was set up so that the continuity of discussions would be there.
    2. This stage was very belief oriented. the board shifted, not in the discussions but rather in the shift from active JWs to ex-JW many of whom were initially active JWs. Many of the scandals were discussed were posted, (UN, sexual abuse, Mexico/Malawi, finances, shunning, etc)
    3. a recovery oriented board. The people who had been mistreated within the org found JW a place to see they had reason to be hurt and that the problem was not the individual but rather the society and its stranglehold on JWs.
    4. still supportive but much of the feel of the board is social.

All are good. And I think everyone can benefit from the info that site in the JWD archives. I think it is important for people to know just how morally bankrupt the WTS really is.
