At the end of April,2008 the GB/FDS( God's spokesperson/ channel of communication) cancelled/deleted one meeting where we are to gather, incite and love one another.

The Bible,God's holy word at Hebrews 10:24,25 Let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works not forsaking the gathering of ourselves,as some have the custom, but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you should behold the day drawing near.

So the GD/FDS says we DO NOT have to gather together.DO NOT have to incite to love.We have the custom of forsaking one another. The DAY in not near.

Yet God's word says the exact opposite.

PS:When the annoucement was made the R&F said "was that not wonderful of the GB/FDS of this new provision".Sorry I'am confused who is right GOD or the gb/fds.

Doesn't make sense to anyone....we were told the bookstudy was the most IMPORTANT meeting....now it's cancelled.

Well - - if I put my "JW hat" on for a moment, I think they'd say that they're still not 'violating' that principle from Hebrews. They'd say that the principle is to gather together consistently, and attend every meeting there is. And that some people 'did not have this custom', as in did not gather with the others at all the meetings, or did not gather at all.

But, as Witness 007 points out, the book study was always said to be perhaps the most important meeting, and that that's where we'd find refuge (in those small groups) when the tribulation would kick in for real.

Is this in print? or just bruddas expressin an opinion...if it is in print...then it wolud be a strong argument for deleting one of the other meetings........oompa

Yeah, I can see the reasoning behind this. You have a book, which you're supposed to study... on your own? That is, without someone there to tell you what to think about what you're reading? What if someone goes above and beyond and actually gets a bible out and reads without an approved representative servant at hand to explain the "official" stance on something as handed down by Jehovah himself? And then you go to a small, rather informal gathering to mull it over? That's pretty dangerous, if you think about it. That's almost like letting someone sort of think for themselves. Almost. It's also a chance to almost kind of enjoy youself, compared to the other meetings, anyway. It's all most irregular and unsupervised and subversive. It's amazing that it was allowed to continue for as long as it did. I believe the time is not far off when individual study in general will be discouraged. You saw it here.

I was under the impression that they merely changed the meeting schedules to include the study on Thursday night.

We should make sure the premise is correct (for the benefit of lurkers). The meeting was not "Cancelled". As of January, this study will be reduced to a half-hour and merged into the other weeknight meeting bloc (Ministry School, Service Meeting).

That having been said, they will be spending less time at meetings, and there will only be two gatherings per week and not three. They're not gathering "all the more so", but less so.

I actually had a situation where a pioneer lady know it all, tried to tell the other elders about the supposed misinterpretation of the book study conductor. it caused a big stir, and it got mulled over.
