I recently heard a lecture and the lecturer said that the word Kingdom is the root word for Zodiac. He didn't say in what language, has anybody else heard of this and should I put it in the b/s folder?

I'd say b/s folder.....
The lecturer has confused two very different families of languages
"Zodiac" is Greek in origin --zodiakos from zoidion (figure) dimunitive of zoion (animal, from which we get the word, "zoo") When used with kylos, "Circle of animals"
"King" (The root of kingdom --a nation ruled by a king) is Germanic in origin with roots in Old Norse konungr, Dutch koning, German könig, Danish konge etc. It's believed to be related to Old English, cynn (kin) meaning "family" or "tribe" originally making a "king" the leader of a family or tribe.
The lecturer was also confused about which came first. Greek is far older than any of the Germanic languages.
