"The Declining Value of Your College Degree":

    http://online.wsj.com/article/SB121623686919059307.html?mod=todays_us_nonsub_pj

Quotes to look for in some "Study edition" Watchtower in 2009:

A four-year college degree, seen for generations as a ticket to a better life, is no longer enough to guarantee a steadily rising paycheck.

A degree ... "isn't any big guarantee of employment..."

Ms. Dewing has a newfound appreciation for how insecure any job can be and how little a college degree by itself stands for.

(Note the "...." above, and then see below)

Quotes that for some odd reason won't find their way into any WTS publication:

A degree, she says, "isn't any big guarantee of employment, it's a basic requirement, a step you have to take to even be considered for many professional jobs."

To be sure, the average American with a college diploma still earns about 75% more than a worker with a high-school diploma and is less likely to be unemployed.

In short, a college degree is often necessary, but not sufficient, to get a paycheck that beats inflation.

    Lifelong education...

The WTS wouldn't like to hear it.

What employers want from workers nowadays is more narrow, more abstract and less easily learned in college.

A variety of economic forces are at work here. Globalization and technology have altered the types of skills that earn workers a premium wage; in many cases, those skills aren't learned in college classrooms...

I'll bet they'll be all over those comments like a duck on a June bug!

You're doing all the work for them plagiarists in writing... don't make it too easy for them to do their cherry-picking...

(Wouldn't it be funny if they actually ysed the quote... remember, lurkers, you saw it first on JWD!)

I have been noticing that college education is becoming more of a necessity to get a decent job these days. True, there are people that succeed with a high school education or that have dropped out of high school and went on to become very rich. And most of these are in the entertainment field (Billy Joel and Kenny Loggins come to mind) that the washtowel is so down on. The others are in fields where they are actually ahead of the curve, blazing new paths in technology and are the true pioneers in society.

The vast majority of those with below college education are in crap jobs. And, if they follow everything the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger puts out, they will not be in entertainment or cutting-edge technology fields. They will be toilet scrubbers and window washers. Such jobs are usually dead end stagnation ruts that pay crap wages. And some will not even get those kinds of jobs, especially if that college grad engineer invents and markets self cleaning windows and toilets.

No, college is not a guarantee of job security. It is more necessary for basic entry level jobs these days.

Why does The Watchtower always bring up materialism when the subject of getting a college education comes up?

I read that article and had the same thought; the WTBTS will positively orgasmic over that article because using partial statements, it almost seems as though that article was written for them.

Truth of the matter is, you need a college education to get in the door at most places of employment.

Bets as to how long it'll take the WTBTS to write an article that "quotes" this article?
