For some reason I have been thinking about this question,
and I am posting it here to get your comments.

    The question is:

Would it be proper for a Christian to work on the development
    of Nuclear Weapons?

More generally, Should a Christian work on producting weapons
    of war?

Proper for a Christion? Maybe. For a rational human being? No.

Absolutely not! However, if a Christian needs the paycheck, or believes their Godly way of life is threatened by 'heathens', one has the option to pray for forgiveness to absolve oneself of responsibility for their actions.

remarkable how an attempt at rationalization can quickly become redundant.

Didn't Cornelius serve in the Roman army? Was not he a christain?

Did he yuse his sword as a weapon... what is the difference between using the sword than making the sword.

Did not God set up Ceasar to enforce the laws of man in which ever manner he wanted to use.

    Aw-w-w Reckless,

I was going to say the same thing!

The WTS used to be fond of saying there was no evidence that a soldier, upon becoming a Christian, remained a soldier. Or something like that.

But, it seems there is no evidence that a soldier stopped being a soldier. If it were that important, shouldn't it have been mentioned in the case of Cornelius?

If one still supposes the Bible is the true word of God, that is.

    Cheers!

Oops, sorry. Just looked it up in the "Reasoning" book and I was wrong. They say the book "The Rise of Christianity" states that there IS evidence.

But, that's if one still holds the bible to be the inerrant word of God.

I can't say if it's right or wrong for another Christian.
I don't beleive that a Christian has that right.
Jesus said to "stop judging and you will not be judged" with reguard to our neighbor.
I can only judge for myself as to whether or not I will accept such emploment.
Read the whole NT and it become plane that we are not under laws but undeserved kindness.
Which leaves us free to choose, hopefully we won't be making too any wrong choices.
There is no record in the NT that shows once a person became a Christian he had to give up military service, John the Baptist said that those in military service should not harass anyone that's all( but that advice was for Jews that listened to Him not neccesarily Christians).

If someone lived a trillion X longer than you, and had a billion X more reasoning ability would he come to the same conclusions as you?

If you look at the history in the Bible God has destroyed people himself and there were many wars in the Bible. God has now left the governments of today to do what they can to preserve peace and "human rights" for people. I think that if a government today uses war when needed, and at times it is needed, then to be part of that process no matter what it entails, would be proper in my view.
