I took the morning off work today and when I get to work learn that my old office is closed.
Why?? Apparently there was a murder near there around 4am this morning. This is very near my home in what is generally considered a very desirable neighborhood. Well, it turns out that my old office was put on lock down! Those that arrived early were locked in the building. Those that arrived after 8am were sent home by police.
Sad story. The man's baby was in the car when he was shot.

Police and Fire: Authorities have identified the suspect in the killing of a 26-year-old man just outside Camarillo this morning.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department is searching for Victor Chavira, 38, of Oxnard, in connection with the early morning homicide, according to a prepared statement from the department. Chavira is considered armed and dangerous, and authorities are asking anyone who sees him to call 911. He is about 5-feet 7-inches tall and 150 pounds with medium length black hair, authorities said.
The victim was identified as Albino Ramirez, of Casitas Springs, said Craig Stevens, senior deputy Ventura County medical examiner.
Chavira is suspected of fatally shooting Ramirez as the Casitas Springs man sat in the drivers seat of his sport utility vehicle on Lewis Road just south of Pleasant Valley Road about 4:10 a.m., said Capt. Ross Bonfiglio of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department. Ramirez’s wife and son were in the car when he was shot.
After the shooting, the suspect left on foot heading northbound, Bonfiglio said.
Neither Ramirez’s wife nor their son was physically injured, Bonfiglio said. The woman and the boy, who is about 5 years old, were taken to a safe location for questioning following the fatal shooting.
The family was heading northbound on Lewis Road before the shooting, but investigators believe the car was stopped when the attack occurred, Bonfiglio said. There was no glass on the ground and it appears the window of the SUV was open.
Investigators this morning had not determined exactly what motivated the shooting, and Sheriff’s officials said little about their suspicions.
“We do not believe it was a random act of violence,” Bonfiglio said. He said the incident did not appear to be a robbery, but declined to elaborate further.
Lewis Road was cordoned off at Pleasant Valley Road as a result of the shooting this morning. The roadway was also closed for roughly three-quarters of a mile to the south. Authorities expect the roadway to be closed until at least 11 a.m.
Sheriff’s officials this morning sent out a reverse 911 message about the shooting to residents and businesses in the area.
Lewis Road is bordered by open fields in the area where the shooting occurred.
