Heard some interesting comments about the study edition wondering if this is a trend developing. A friends mother wanted to get a spare copy of the "Kool Aid" edition to share with her (faded) son in hopes he might attend. The elder she asked declined stating that the brothers were being very stingy with them. This part is sketchy it was suggested that the son would need to register with the local hall by providing personal information to his local elders in order to get a copy.
Is this a local thing? Anyone else seem similar things?

it must vary from hive to hive
i get a copy usu from one of two "sistahs" pretty regularly .... i had declined the first time saying "isnt that just for active members?"
to be told " oh goodness no, there is no reason why you shouldnt have one to read... the articles indicate just how close we are!"you may proceed to throw up in your mouth.....

Frankly, I don't know how it is handled officially. It may depend on the local BoE. What I do know is that I DA'd myself a couple of years ago, and my family still mails me the literature, including the study edition of the Watchtower. I must admit, however, that I have little interest in browsing its contents. Really, when was the last time anything new came out of the Watchtower Printing and Real Estate Corporation?

I understood that the WT Study Editions were to be treated like KMs, only to baptized jws "in good standing" attending some meetings if physically possible. I would think though that if a df'd person attended meetings, they would get a copy as in the past.

I read somewhere, but can't remember where, that the study editions were to be handed out and collected back at the Watchtower study for those who didn't have their own copy.

My MS cousin was very hesitant to give me a copy, because all he had was the two copys they gave to him and his wife. He gave me one since there was only one study article left to do that month and he could manage it. I imagine its hard to get a copy from someone who is actively attending meetings who you happen to meet in the field service though. In my opinion it is similar to how they dish out the oKM.

Its funny that the rank and file protect it and are affraid to let non jw's have it. Its really not much different from the wt before they went to puplic and private wt. They must be affraid they will die in Armaggedon if they let a non jw have it.
Blondie Df'd can get the in house wt...How else can they tell if your bearing fruit befitting of repentance? They want to see all your paragraphs underlined...after all is'nt that what the bible says you have to do to be reinstated?

It's a local thing.
Here, the conductor asks if anyone needs a copy, and attendants pass out extras to whoever wants one.

Some Witnesses can be really petty. If they get any opportunity to exert authority over you they will take it.
With some of them you get the feeling that they have decided you are not worthy of this or that priviledge or spiritual provision. It makes them all warm and fuzzy inside to withhold it.

If it is as stated elsewhere on this thread, that the congregation only receives a copy per each baptized jw,
Again that is a local thing. The elders can order as many as they like. Here, for about 140 or so publishers, the order for study WTs is close to 200. Some people order one for each member of their family, including small children not yet "publishers". Others just like to have one or 2 extras.
I imagine if the order suddenly jumped to 400, there might be a "polite inquiry" from "mother", but there doesn't seem to be any problem with ordering a fair number more than the count of publishers.
Some Witnesses can be really petty. If they get any opportunity to exert authority over you they will take it.
Yep....although here the congregation seems to be pretty mellow. It is easy to imagine other congregations being quite a bit more fascist.
