My JW mother goes with her "worldly" husband to see the latest "Mummy" movie.
(The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor)

"It was good, but I don't think it was great. I also don't know that a Christian should
    see it."

    "Did you need to leave?"

"No, maybe I should have, but I didn't."

Here's my thing. I don't want to push too hard on Mom. All it will accomplish is her
walking out or avoiding such entertainment. It won't make her realize how silly the
    rules are.

Please share any of your hypocrite JW examples.

My ex-wife kept all her R rated movies hidden in a bathroom drawer. I didn't care, but you should have seen her face when our teen daughter found them!

It was like she found porn!

I told this one here before. My sissy was married to a dickbrain jw. He was always nagging everyone to obey the slave and to get in line. He even told my sissy and their kids that he was Jehovah in their house and that they had to honor him and his headshit. LOL

Well he had a big gripe against R rated movies and threatened anyone who saw one with the elderzzzz.

So one day my wife's brother who was an elder back then came over with a rented copy of Terminator 2. Well dickbrain had a fit and protested til he was purple and almost passed out. He demanded a watchtower to read to counter the evils of the movie....The dumbass was reading a Spanish wt upside down.

All this time nagging and nagging and he was beating my sissy and molesting their kids. I am glad he finally died. Liver failure is a bloody shitty mess.

A few years ago I was once in the home of an Elder , one of those type who was very Watchtower. Criticised everyone else if they stepped out of line.

I was sitting next to a cupboard, above which had shelves with videos on them. Usual family stuff Disney etc, mainly up to 12 rated, maybe a couple of 15.

Anyway oneof his younger kids came in and asked if they could get something out the cupboard. I moved so they could get in, they took what ever it was out and left.

But they didn't close door properly, so as I looked down, I noticed more videos through door. Being nosy, I opened door a bit more and saw about 20, 18 rated videos. Mainly the ones that where considered violent, but also about 5-6 "of a sexual nature"

I gave a little smile and closed the cupboard, and filed away this find in my mind for future use.

The WTS has stopped making judgments on individual movies in print for over 20 years. But you will hear COs, DOs and local elders make comments from the stage. My experience is that most just ignore it except for the rank and file who run around judging others. Those that say it was not good but stayed are fooling themselves. That would be like saying food was spoiled and eating it anyway.

    OTWO, is your mother baptized?

The important for a jw to do is not tell anyone your business, especially about what movies you watch or tv shows. Keep your videos and CDs locked away from the prying of elders and other jws who will check what you have, for good or for bad. Put books in that category. I can remember a couple that were told to get rid of all their sci-fi books.

She is a JW from the old pre-1975 days. She thought the end would have arrived by the end
of 1975, then was DF'ed after it did not come.

She went back later, still accepts the WT excuse about not knowing when the creative day
actually ended because EVE was the last of creation. She still thinks the end is imminent
    because of that reasoning.

She doesn't live like a JW who's sure the end is imminent. But the great thing is that she
won't shun me or treat me differently no matter what my JW status is.

I think that when you have a non witness mate, you do have to be a little
lax to get along...perhaps that's why she doesn't seem so hard core with jw things.

I think your mom is pretty wise and cool...
