What is the JW view on working for the defense dept?

My wife is very used to the relatively comfortable lifestyle we presently have, so how would a question like this go over:

"I understand that the JWs are very opposed to the military and military service....since I presently work for the Department of Defense, how is my employment viewed by God (or would I need to change jobs to become a JW?)?

Any thoughts?

of course u would, a jw cant even clean the barracks out u would have to quit or get df'ed unless they changed it in last few years

The argument for could be 'superior authorities'...... as long as it is a civilian position that can't result in the death of another directly.

Where I work we do the Quality Assurance on submarines and Aircraft Carriers......would they try to justify that???

As long as you are not directly enrolled in the military.....nope, not really........
If this was WWII, maybe. All depends on personality at top.
But you never know, some Elders aren't always informed of 'progressed' beliefs.
