A little garden snake approached me while in the garden this PM. I gently picked it up and took it over to let my 3 yr old , Miranda, see it. She followed my lead that it was a beautiful creature and was captivated by it. We had a great opportunity to talk about it and she held it and talked baby talk to it. She was a little upset when I let it go in the flower bed but she was thrilled by the experience. Hope this encounter will encourage her to love animals. She already know that G Dad won't kill spiders.
Captured a little snake for my Grandaughter to see...

Things like that are tender. I found myself ready to smash a bug the other day and said to myself, "Harm no one." And let it go. I got that from my 8 yr old. Of course, each time we are at the mart, I have to pull her away from the National Geographics and Life had the best mag with this pic of a honey bee rolled in pollen. Fascinating pic.
You two will bond from things like that. Nice job. Peace up!

That's cool. I also respect the lives of animals and bugs. However, my patience w spiders has run out. Now, i kill em, instead of putting them outside. Buddha wouldn't be happy, but, wtf do i care what he thinks?

I killed 3 Black Widows in my garage earlier this year. I discovered one only a couple of feet away from where my 18 month old was standing. I smashed it. I then nuked the garage with those poison spray bombs the next day. I let the wolf spiders be, but I kill the ones that look like brown recluses.

My cat brought in a large wolf spider, played w it for a while, then ate it. Next, he did the same w a large moth. He's not buddhist, either.

OK, I don't kill most spiders. Black widows I smash.

Ooooo I found a little snake on the back porch and saved it in a jar until my granddaughter could come over and see it. We didn't touch it. Just looked at it and let it go far away from the house.
I just watched a spider catch a bug on the back porch. Then the dog barked and the spider ran away and the bug got free. It was a good day for the bug, And I hope the spider gets to eat.

It's good to hear things like this. My grandkids freak out when they see a spider because their mother does; it doesn't seem to be changing even when I try to teach them that they are beneficial. I don't think snakes bother them though.
I know people who will almost have a wreck when they see a snake crossing the road, because they have just got to run over it.
