Here's another new google item: the 1843 Bible Examiner, edited by George Storrs. At this time, he was a leader in the Millerite movement. The Bible Examiner was published off and on until 1879, when Storrs died. It was in the early 1870s when C.T. Russell came into contact with Storrs. I've never confirmed it, but I'm told that Storrs baptized C.T. Russell on a visit to Pennsylvania.

The first part of this file contains several articles by Storrs. The later part contains articles by other Adventists. The file is searchable and bookmarked and is about 9.8 MB. It can be downloaded from this filesharing site:

Hopefully, someday, we'll have access to later Bible Examiners closer to Russell's day.

You're welcome, Gary! I noticed in Storr's article "The Return of the Jews" that he rejected the idea of promises still to be extended to the Jewish people. I wonder if he changed on this or if CTR got his ideas on this from someone else?

    Atlantis, Jaydee---you're welcome.

Storrs was an interesting fellow. He was a passionate abolitionist but he's more often remembered for his role with C.T. Russell. Which is odd, because, while he counted CTR as a friend he distanced himself from the time setting that was apparent in The Three Worlds and The Object and Manner of Christ's Return. I think Storrs was a bit hesitant about dogmatism re: time setting after his experiences with the Millerite movement. This site gives some excerpts of some speeches by Storrs just before the 1844 "Great Disappointment":

CTR and Barbour should have listened to Storrs on this one.
