I work in the industry and I recommend people change their tires every 3 or 4 years, depending on how much they drive. I've been doing tire work on and off for almost 10 years and I've never seen tires in a service station hang around that long on the shelf. Something's not right at those service centers.
Wow... that's really interesting, had no idea they had the manufacturing date "coded" on them. Just to reiterate here (as the code information was at the end of the video) the last strand of numbers are the manufacturing date. The first digit or digits are the WEEK number, the last digit or digits are the year.
I.E: 421 is the 42nd week of 1991. 3602 is the 36th week in 2002.
