Paradigm shift
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Paradigm shift, sometimes known as extraordinary science or revolutionary science, is the term first used by Thomas Kuhn in his influential 1962 book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions to describe a change in basic assumptions within the ruling theory of science. It is in contrast to his idea of normal science.

iloowy,
I think this has something to do with a big change in religious teachings. I found some kind of a manual that gives instructions for teachers to implement this. There are some strange buzz words and phrases like "focused thought" "consciousness is ripe for change" (referring to masses of people who have realized they have been lied to and duped by religions) and methods for subtly breaking in new thought patterns like "we are on the return path to the creator" and "you are gods in training; the kingdom is within".
This one line is really spooky. "Only the most adaptive will survive and be useful in further experimental adaptation and exploitation."
It talks about what they will tell all the people who had expected to see a miraculous "rapture". It seems religion created this bogus teaching in the first place, so now they reveal the deception in order to create another more believable deception. Basically they say that people are not going to leave this planet because the way humanity is, that would just make two planets in trouble instead of one. Instead of the return of Jesus to take back his remnant bride, these new religious instructors mock the very idea and say "no body is coming in space ships to pick you up." They twist the scriptures and make it sound like people are ignorant to believe such a thing. They say that to expect the return of Jesus is hero fantasism.
This quote strikes me as interesting. "Much of the valuable information disseminated through other receivers has become an addiction for fantaticizing with little or no application in practical living experience.
It makes me wonder if this is applicable to the witnesses because how can they have much "practical living experience" when they have been tied up in meetings 4 or 5 days a week for years and have had their social life restricted to other clones only, and have been restricted as to what they can watch, read , or listen to. There has not really been much "practical living experience" in social interaction nor in education.
The reason I am bringing this up to all of you is because Watchtower teaches a fantasy of bringing about a Utopia. A place often associated with "Paradise" is called Arcadia. It is a place of green pastures, leisure, and fruit picking. The name of this group bringing in the Paradigm shift is called arcadiansociety.org.
If you want to read more from this "handbook" the web address is above, just add "/rainbow.htm".

from Merriam Webster, a paradigm is a philosophical or theoretical framework of any kind. A paradigm shift is when your fundamental beliefs and assumptions change, causing you to look at everything differently. So, if you shift from believing in god to believing there is no god, your paradigm has shifted. You look at things differently.

It sounds like a paradigm shift is a fancy way of saying "new light".
It's still exchanging one bulls**** teaching for another.

you could call it "new light." But a paradigm shift can happen any time you learn something new that sheds light on what you previously believed. We spend out lives having paradigm shifts, as we grow and learn. The JW "new light" is a paradigm shift of sorts, since it involves changing what people believe and changing their world view. But it is made-up stuff, not factual, therefore not really useful.

Whenever I hear a consultant talk about a paradigm shift, I run the other direction.
This is the most over used word in management consulting. Same ol stuff, different package.

I've been through a few major paradigm shifts in my life!
This is not to be compared to WTS new light, which is never really shift in consciousness or worldview.
And, it probably is a an overused word for people who think outside the box, are on the cutting edge or who push the envelope. Did I miss any other overused phrases there!!??
We always remind the sales guy who's always talking about thinking outside the box that the box is there for a reason.
