I think someone's favorite movies tell alot about the individual so I found it interesting reading Roger Ebert's article about the candidates' favorite movies.

John McCain: Viva Zapata! Some Like it Hot, Letters From Iwo Jima.
Barack Obama: Casablanca, The Godfather I, II, Lawrence of Arabia, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest.
I found both of their choices to be fascinating. This is what I gather.
John Mcain likes comedy, but he also appreciates movies that examine foreign policy from a non-US perspective. He's also a Brando fan and can appreciate a movie with subtitles.
Barack Obama picks Casablanca.... which is a safe choice since it makes the top tier of great American movies from a film critic's perspective, but... he likes Lawrence of Arabia which analyzes English influence in the middle east as well as its consequences. He lists The Godfather Part I and Part II.... but not Part III which means he knows what he's talking about (as far as this choice is concerned, I've never been a fan of the 3rd). He also likes One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, it could mean he's a Nicholson fan or... he appreciates movies with an anti-authoritarian bent.
Those are my thoughts, what do you think?
