I'm pretty sure all religion has pagan origens. Religion is myths passed down from long ago sanitized and pasteurized for the current generation. To keep them ignorant and passive. And good consumers and subjects.

I tend to see the search for 'pagan' beliefs as somewhat of a misnomer.

The way I see it, when the Watchtower argues about 'pagan' beliefs they use their own construct of what the term means. Typically the Watchtower will only use the term to relate to beliefs and practices of cultures that converted to Christianity and then merged their practices. I don't remember the term being used again peoples and cultures who never had christianity in them. I could be wrong (and most likely am in a technical sense), but in a very general way I also think I'm right. Paganism as defined by the Watchtower relates to an uncleanness that is compared to their so called cleanness.

What I'm getting at is that the term is used not to actually define some particular practice, but to generalize an idea. How do you define what is 'pagan' anyway. Is it any practice that is not Christian? Is it something else?

You can use the Watchtowers own definition of paganism against it, but I tend not to think that is a wise choice. Don't sink to their level of bland generalities and uncomprehensive thought, rise above it.

Dude, I LOVE the "Valueless Propaganda" video!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh, what's so amazing about this site, is that it's not showing me anything new. It's just proving that I'm not crazy when I had the exact same thoughts years ago!!
